Grafham on top form today . Duncan and I spent the Grafham on top form today . Duncan and I spent the day exploring the lake away from the busy G bouy . Poppers and shrimps in a foot of water bought a steady stream of big silver fish to the boat . Duncan hooked a monster brown. That nearly jumped in the boat but sadly shook the hook well into the fight .. Great catch up with my mate David today . He manag Great catch up with my mate David today . He managed a solid 7 fish in tricky conditions fishing a single sugar cube emerger . Rook hall has suffered a big O2 crash over the last week due to abnormally high water temperatures for November . This has resulted in fish behaving in a stressed way shoaling tight in the margins . Sam and Tad have begun vigorously aerating the lake today with 3 pumps and this has made an immediate impact with the fish starting to settle down . Please take a long handled landing net and take plenty of time to recover your fish until it’s strong enough to swim away . Conditions were far from ideal over the two days with a freezing easterly breeze and low mist . But both guys persevered with shallow fished indicator tactics scoring best on the rook hall rainbows . Home water has just had a double stocking and rook hall is due another top up this week .. This rainbow was well north of 6lb and pulled like a train despite showing scars of a recent tussle with and Osprey with eyes big than it’s talons ! We saw the bird in the exact area 10 days ago and if you look closely you can clearly see the talon pattern . Well that was an incredible couple of days fishing Well that was an incredible couple of days fishing for Uk Bluefin Tuna . I was invited to join my good friend Paul Henderson in Falmouth and the crew on www.atlanticbluefin.co.uk chasing these UK monsters . The fishing over two days was nothing short of epic . We successfully landed 11 fish between us the largest at 74 inches you could have put a saddle on ! A couple of fish lost and a bonus angry 100lb blue shark in the gear to liven a quiet spell ! The sport was hectic at times and even in the lulls the sheer amount of wildlife to be seen kept us occupied . Countless common Dolphins shadowing us , Pilot and Fin Whales , Ocean sunfish and cruising sharks not to mention the varied bird life . Steve and Mike were excellent hosts working tirelessly to keep us on fish all day . Superb few days on Grafham . Out with Gwyneth on F Superb few days on Grafham . Out with Gwyneth on Friday having a look about ahead of the ladies national today . Fish are well spread about the north shore . We caught on a variety of lines and flies with most of the fish around drop offs and weed beds . Sat I shared the boat with Duncan and Malcolm . Heavy overcast pulled the fish back into the shallows and it was a floating line day for sure .. short drifts in just feet of water providing decent action all day to the guys . Looks like Grafham has turned the corner . Looking forward to having a good look about for some of the Mose residents .. we creatively moved some decent fish this weekend . I was joined by first time fly fisherman Joss for a day in the dries @chigboroughfarm . What started as a nice warm morning soon turned cold with a cool easterly coming in off the sea . The fish switched off becoming very sporadic but a bit of perseverance and Joss came away with three rainbows and a few missed . We stayed with the dry fly tactics opting for a big sugar cube emerger to bring the fish up .
